Phytochemistry


Sesame seeds contain natural antioxidant such as sesamin, sesamol, sesaminol, phenols, flavonoids and lignans.[1] The high resistance of sesame oil to oxidation has long been known.[2]

Clinical indication


Sesame seeds accelerate fatty acid metabolism, inhibit cholesterol absorption and biosynthesis. It improves liver functions in connection with alcohol metabolism. S. indicum possesses antioxidant, hypotensive and antiaging properties.[3] Clinical study indicated beneficial role of Sesavita® to maintain healthy lipid profile and blood glucose levels in patients with hyperlipidemia and prediabetes.[4]
